Want Prospects To Open Up? Take a tip from the professional interviewers

Once upon a time everyone was taught the difference between open and closed questions as the key to engaging prospects…and it worked for a fair while.

In today’s world with it’s much greater emphasis upon individual opinion and with our professional focus having shifted entirely onto what the client cares about rather than what a product manufacturer wants, there is a need to be a little more thoughtful in how we engage and question.

The best in world at engaging and questioning strangers, and having them open up on the most incredible of personal stories, are the celebrity talk show hosts.  So what is their secret?  Could we learn something from them?

You better believe we can.

These are the masters of questioning: Ellen, Oprah, Letterman, Dr Phil….they don’t even need second names do they?  They are that well known for their skill in interviewing and turning that into entertainment.

In this weeks Quick Tips video we have a look at the basic formula they use to engage and open up conversation, and it is a remarkably simple three step process.  It is very effective however, and any professional could improve their own ability to engage prospects by taking a tip from Oprah and friends…
