With all the report writing and problem solving it is often difficult to feel like you did a good days’ work…you were busy for sure, but was it a good days’ work?  Or was it just being busy on “stuff”?

There is a simple test for any professional feeling buried in compliance, red tape, customer service or any of the myriad of other things that are collectively called “stuff that fills your day”.

Did you create something valuable for a client today?

If you did, you have done your job today.  It was a good days’ work.  Well done you!

If you didn’t….then go and create some value for a client today.  It isn’t too late, no matter what the hour of the day is.

When you get right down to it, the test of whether you have had a “good day” in our business is as simple as asking whether you created value for someone.  When feeling overwhelmed with “stuff” it is really easy to lose sight of the actual client outcomes that you create…the difference you make…the change you created in someone else’s world.

To make every day professionally fulfilling you just need to be mindful of the need to create value for your customers every working day.  Keep doing that and you will keep having days that made a difference, and have a business which is moving forward no matter what distractions and “stuff” is happening.
