Everyone knows that the real power in referral marketing is the “transfer of trust” by the referrer, and how that creates positioning and authority for the person being referred. What isn’t quite as well known is that a position of authority can be created with a simple introduction – even by a work colleague.
One of the key lessons from the principles of influence is that authority can be conveyed simply by having someone mention your credentials or experience. Doing that yourself doesn’t work so well, but having a colleague or peer mention them is influential.
