Information, ideas, tips…the articles for professional advisers which I spotted this week that generate fresh thinking or a deeper understanding of issues are provided here as a quick readers digest for professionals who are looking ahead.

These are the highlights from the week that you should stop and read, as they are the best I’ve seen.

There is so much good information for professional services made available each week, much of which I share, that it is very easy to forget to pause and reflect.

Each week I select the best handful and give them Tony’s BIG Ticks as being the ones that made me pause and reflect, or think further.   They are sometimes thought-provoking, perhaps insightful, maybe a great sales or marketing idea or sometimes just incredibly topical.

The picks for professionals have been:
What’s Old Is New Again: The Importance Of Insurance In Financial Planning
By @FAmagazine

This is definitely an article for the times given the number of “financial planners” who do not offer comprehensive risk management advice as part of their planning (something which I have always struggled to understand TBH). Financial Planning In Virtual Reality
By @_moneymarketing

An excellent article which illustrates superbly just how virtual reality may take root as a core part of the advice delivery process…definitely makes you think!

Boards & Family Businesses: What Could Go Wrong?
By @teamFBCG

“…A high-functioning board grows your enterprise’s value, too. According to research from Lodestone Global1, 96% of companies who implemented boards of directors reported increased revenues, seeing an average revenue growth of 55%….”

A great read for anyone with a privately held business who has perhaps not build a fabulous governance structure yet…

By @FinAd_IQ

“…when cell phones and text messages first came into common use, firms established policies barring employees from conducting business via text, aiming to avoid the obligation to keep records of those messages, Marsh says. But even if firms ban the practice, they still need a way to demonstrate employees are sticking to those rules…”

One of the most popular methods of consumer communication continues to present massive challenges to financial services…

How To Attract High Net Worth Clients
By @FinStd

The article doesn’t really live up to its headline BUT does contain excellent insight into the importance of branding when it comes to trying to attract HNW clients, and their affinity for brands “with purpose” (which IS helpful)…

Share them around please…they are too good to keep to yourself!

P.S.  My best this week?  I think it was
